Check out RBV (Youtube)---Red Bacteria Vacuum. They opened for "A perfect Circle" in Berkely-Greek Theatre. They are a all girl punk band from Japan. A 3 piece that blew the crowd away and me. These girls were going OFF!!! The evolution of punk keeps on Roll-in!!!!!!

Pilate, I love American Nightmare! But, I'm sort of fading out of punk/hardcore. Being in a touring band, seeing sooooo many bands that sound the same night after night gets incredibly old.

I will always listen to the original punk band and newer stuff like Cursed, American Nightmare, Neurosis, among a few others. Now a days, I seem to prefer a more slow and soothing sound, haha.

Josh,

We know some of the same people. Small world.

I'm a hardcore drop out myself. I got tired of participating in a subculture that does its very best to recreate in parallel the values of the mainstream while pretending otherwise.

Some bands I've been listening to recently that are more mellow: Nana Grizol, Good Luck, Rodeo Ruby Love, Emilyn Brodsky

Jesse,

Yes it was with HR. I know you gotta keep that PMA :)

Jay,

Here's my "back in the day" photo of walking on heads in a warehouse:

walking on heads

The photo was actually featured on an MTV blog of all places, but I can no longer find it. I emailed Matthew Miller, the photographer, to see if he has a link although I'm thinking he told them to take it down, but I don't know.

Ken
I am fully 3.5% proficient with Photoshop.
If I were still at work, I would have organised one of the guys there to add Barry Manilow (the man responsible for Punk Rock in the US) stroking his instrument into into the background of your last pic.

Man that photo brings back memories. I loved that club, too bad it's a clothing warehouse now. I saw many very good bands there. And some of the greats. I saw the UK Subs there during freaknik (black college spring break) so the city was shut down. There were maybe 30 people there. Anti-flag opened up and basically got booed off the stage by the baldies. But the most memorable part of that show was Charlie wearing shredded pants and little charlie kept poppiing out.

I just got my copy. A book about the NYC/CBGB/omfug mid 80's hardcore punk scene.
Anyone who ever attended a hardcore matinée at CBGB can relate.

Wow, quite a list there TeWa, last time I purchased a CD was about 5 years ago.

I listened to an interview with Ian MacKaye on NPR the other day on my way home from work, that guy is such a bada$s. Also check the Dischord Record site where you can navigate through all their live shows from '87-'03 and download the shows that were recorded. You all seem like prolific punk fans so I'm sure some of you went to one of their shows, that show may actually be available for download.

Here's the link to the interview:

this is prolly only half of the stuff i once had.. but it's hard to rip albums and cassettes to an ipod.. so this is what i ended up with! haha!

id like to keep this set together. im hoping it will reach someone who either is just being turned on to "real" punk music (by their dad, big sister, etc..) or someone like me who just wants to rebuild the collection.

also add Slayer Seasons/Abyss and Reign in Blood to the set, no xtra cost. and Free ship too!
