I stumbled upon an interesting thread on Flickr that serious backcountry photographers might be interested in. I am not one of these but wanted to share regardless.http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157616510290453/
Thanks Sam. I might give that a go next time I want to make a tripod out of my hiking pole. Very neat idea. Just carry a few extra tent pegs and cord and you're set! Not the sort of thing you would probably want to set up every time you're taking a picture, but a great option for dusk shooting.
It's certainly not practical for capturing quick pics, I agree, Ashley. However for the experienced photographer looking to make serious photos in the backcountry this method could be a great time saver.
