Inspiration for Diabetic Hikers on 03/09/2009 07:43:54 MDT Print View

Any of you out there who have diabetes (I have Type 1) know how hard it can be to deal with the disease out there away from help, and most especially the problems with low blood sugar and with the mental wall of dealing with the fear of getting caught unprepared out there. Here are three sites that might help you gain more confidence:

Rainforest Treks/ Diabetes Page. A how-to for managing diabetes in the mountains.

4 Wheel Bob, a Type 1 diabetic in a wheelchair who climbs 14,000 ft peaks! THAT has got to be one of the greatest inspirations I've seen.

M.A.D., Mountains for Active Diabetics, an online organization of diabetic mountain enthusiasts around the world.
