Although it's size S, the Hoody's sizing runs large, I'm usually a medium and this is still roomy (although not long).

Bought July 2007, and used on and off for colder weekend trips for a couple of seasons, after which it's hung in my closet. Has been pretty well babied, always stored uncompressed, packed loosely at the top of my pack, washed once with synthetic fabric cleaner. I don't think there's any sign of compression of the insulation, however there are a couple of inches of stitching on the hood that are starting to fray. Also at one point I must have splashed a bit of water treatment on the chest, there are some tiny white bleach marks just beside the zip (barely visible in the photo).

How does it fit on you?
I'm 5'9 160lb and 34in in the schoulders - wondering if it would work for me as a bealy parka type jacket?

It's baggy but not long in the sleeves or waist (which are about right for me at 5'7"). See my review in the reader review section.

thanks, just wondering about your measurements and how it fits. I find that often I can fit small, medium and even large (!) dpending on the manufacturer and dont want to buy something too small.

How short is the small on you, compared to the medium Alpine Light Jacket?
Is the hood climbing helmet compatable?
How warm is it? I was thinking compared to the micropuff garments?

Hi Robert: it's similar length to my Medium Alpine Light (Montbell right?), maybe slightly shorter and slightly less of a droptail.

No don't think a helmet would fit in the hood, not comfortably anyway. The Pertex Quantum shell might perhaps be a little fragile for this sort of use anyway?

How warm.. haven't seen a micropuff, but definitely more loft than my MB Thermawrap Vest. For the weight, it's probably as good as you'll get for synthetic get because of the fabric & minimal construction. Obviously can't compete with a down jacket like the Alpine Light though.

I have the pro parka (almost the same as yours), and I would compare its warmth to the WM Flight jacket. The integrated hood holds in a ton of warmth, and there are no cold spots because there are no baffles.
