There are now web cams located at lots of places where hikers, backpackers etc travel. I am starting a place to post these.

Mt Washington, NH (my Mt Everest) is first on the list.

Great idea. Good thread, Bill. A couple more from the Appalachians:

Two cameras with views from the top of Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. A lot of folks keep their eyes on this one to plan their visits during the leaf-turning season in October/ November.

A camera in Maine with views of Katahdin. This one also has a cool feature where you can watch a time lapse of the entire day.

What a great idea!

Here are a few from Washington state:

Hurricane Ridge (Olympic National Park):

North Cascades (Newhalem Visitor Center):

Mount Rainier (Paradise):

Snoqualmie Pass:

Here are few others:

Glacier National Park Webcam:

List of National Park Webcams:

The national park site does not contain an exhaustive list of national park webcams (it doesn't list the Glacier webcams, nor does it list the Hurricane Ridge webcam but it does have a different webcam for the Olympics). Go figure.
