What/where is that reddish mound of scree? With all of the exposed granite I sometimes forget about the other geologic formations in the Sierras.

Enough already with these dribs and drabs of your trip!! You've shown us a few pretty pictures, while professing that those were the best 14 days of your life, but I want a proper trip report about your JMT hike. No more of these half measures. Now quit messing around and invest some time into doing it right. I want photos, captions, gear list, and Colin Fletcher type inspirational prose describing the majestic views from the passes and magic of alpenglow on the exposed granite. You owe it to us and you owe it to yourself.

P.S. I'd really would appreciate it since I'm sitting here in PA watching the last bit of snow melt into the muddy little hills and trying to live vicariously through others on BPL after having put my three kids to bed.

Thomas that is Red Cone just past Reds Meadows....and for a trip report-well?? I am not the best story teller or spellur for that matter. A picture speaks a thousand words.
I took a journal with me and wrote every night. I took notes on the wildlife I saw which was the most important thing to me. Like I saw 24 total Deer and 5 Elk. Hummingbirds, falcons, hawks, quail, marmots, ducks, one Garter snake, 3 different types of lizards, one coyote, frogs, trout and one very large harry spider in my TENT!!!! Oh yea and lot of bats right before sunset. I really want to hike the JMT again I just need to find the time.
THe JMT is truly a hike of a lifetime!!!
