For those who are not aware Backpackgeartest is a website that has been established for quite a while and as stated on their home page "BackpackGearTest.org is a site where backpackers evaluate new gear in the field over a six month testing period. We report to BackpackGearTest.org in a setting that encourages discussion. ..." This has always been a useful site as it provides a lot information on many products written by many experienced hikers, as well, the testing is not limited to just one region of the world. In fact you will find reports from many of the well known reviewers here at BPL.

However, what impressed me the other day was a review by BPL's Roger Caffin on Salomon XT Wings, it was not the actual review of the shoes but that his report was also a commentary on a 4 day trip undertaken with the shoes. This to me is not something that you see very often so I wanted to congratulate Roger (no relation) as well as to suggest that reviews that provide a commentary of the gear along with the trips which incorporate how the gear was used should also feature at BPL.

Obviously I agree :-)

That site led me to BPL, and light-weight backpacking.....love it. Especially when people take pictures from all angles and give you temperature ratings from the field.
