One of my favourite areas to hike in is in the north part of the South Island of New Zealand. The weather isn’t as bad as the areas further south and there are some great passes and mountains to climb. This month I attempted a trip that was so dangerous it was banned by a local walks club secretary!

I really love that bush climb out of Ada pass onto Gloriana too (NOT). I've never been down the other side though. Sigh. A man who loves Laphroig and cubans is my kinda tramper ;)

Pedro is also into eating real food on the trail. So whilst I was chewing on my muesli bars for breakfast, he was frying eggs, sausages and mushrooms. (different walk)

Yeah, and you should have seen the week before Xmas we spent in Nelson Lakes...it rained the whole trip :(
