Ron,

I proably should have asked this before I ordered the new tall gaitors you are offering and maybe I'll be able to answer my own question when they arrive since I assume they are identical to the shorties except the length.

I own the ID eVENT Shortie Gaiters which weigh about 2.5oz. I was wondering what the difference between your new shorties and these, other then being lighter?

I have the same question (MLD v. ID). I'd like to replace my OR Celestial gaiters eventually; your tall gaiters look like the ticket.

Hi,

The MLD Gaitors:
- Weight Less
- Have a free floating elastic cord in the bottom hem that makes a lot tighter seal over the shoes to keep more snow and debris out.
- Anchored bungee cordlock for one handed operation- a lot easer with mitts.
- A more pointed shape at the front of the foot for a better fit over the front of the shoe.-As you can see in their product page pics- the front lace hook can not be engaged on the pictured boot anywhere near the toe- less coverage and not as nice for a trail runner that is not WP over the laces..
- MLD fits a larger shoe better due to the bottom elastic and pointed shape.

FYI:
I used my LightSnow gaitors size LG on my size 12.5 (47) US and my partners Womens size 11 (43) BC Ski boots last week in knee deep snow and that size fit great on both.

The LightSnow tall version are about 10% larger per size over the SuperLight Gaitors figuring if you need the tall ones your snow boot is a bit larger than a trail runner.

I will give the ID product the slight plus on the instep patch for durability in that one area. Maybe better for ice climbing...

I cant believe the weight saving I will get over my present Mountain Hardware Gaiters. Design genius Ron.

In the wet and muddy UK they are essential kit.

Gaiters are also essential in Minnesota, especially after spring melt.
