A few years ago, I purchased some very inexpensive plastic fluorescent lightbulb covers/protectors at a restaurant supply for a couple of failed MYOG projects (mapcase gave the maps a rolled up set, didgerido had only so so sound).

But, if the inside diameter (1 5/8") is sufficient, these would be perfect for UL fishing pole cases. They do come with ends although the ends have easily plugged oblong holes to accommodate the bulbs prongs...

Thanks for the heads up Michael. Shame that I've not kept up with the fishing forum--I've been looking at it a bit lately as Todd is threatening to get a Barbie pole after that news story about one being used for a 21 pound record breaking fish.
