Another question about Montbell Superstretch bags on 08/10/2008 12:52:08 MDT Print View

I understand that the Japanese versions of the Montbell Super Stretch down bags include a "Short" model, with max. height of 5'8", whereas only "Regular" and "Long" versions are available in the US.

A question for those familiar with the Japanese bags:

Are the zippers used on the US and Japanese bags the same? Could one US bag and one Japanese bag be mated together?

And, two more general questions:

Many descriptions of these bags include this sentence: "The new updated bags also have smaller multi-box baffle partitions which allow an even, accurate distribution of 800 fill down."

When was this 'multi-box baffle partition' style introduced?

How are such bags visually differentiated from older bags without this multi-box partitioning?

Josh,

I suspect most of us here aren't familiar with MontBell's Japanese bags -- and our Japanese readers probably won't know about the MontBell bags sold here in the US. My guess is that they're all made in China anyway, so the zippers probably can mate. However, that's just a guess on my part. Sorry, not much help.

For such specific questions, I recommend that you give MontBell customer service a call so you can get your answers direct from them.

Thanks Ben and Kyle,

The folks at the Boulder store didn't know the answer to the zipper question yesterday, but I'll try the regular customer service line today.
