Looking at the handle attachment area, there are 12 delicate "rivet like" points -- two columns of three on each side of the two handles. Given this and the very thin wall of the cup, methinks ripping out the handles will likely damage the wall of the mug -- rendering it completely useless.
IMO, it's pretty lousy of BPL to charge more for a cup that involves less steps to manufacture. But then, we are a capitalist society, and BPL has the legal right to charge whatever it thinks the market will bear.
Maybe diehard ULers who can't bear to lug two lousy ti handles deserve to pay more??? :)
