BPL UL Quilt - sleeping pad question on 03/27/2008 20:31:51 MDT Print View

What is everyone using for a sleeping pad with their quilts? I bought a UL 180 Quilt and tried it out at home using a Big Agnes mummy shaped insulated air core that I've been using with my sleeping bag. Sticking the pad into the quilt takes up all the foot space, and yet from what I understand, the quilt is made to wrap around a pad. So... do I get a 1/2 length pad that is just long enough to slip into the quilt past where it splits underneath?

I am by no means a seasoned expert on quilts... but I've never wrapped my quilt around my pad. That creates more dead air space that has to be heated. If you wrap it around you, and just lay on top of your pad, the cold spots are eliminated.

However, if you have a problem rolling off your pad, wrapping it around the pad would be beneficial. I've just never had a problem with that.
