Heine cans going away in your area? on 12/29/2007 21:44:12 MST Print View

I have not been able to find the 25oz. Heine cans this winter. The stores in N. Utah have replaced the cans with big glass bottles.

Are they still available in other areas?

I wish I had kept a few more around.

They are still for sale here in MI. I'd be happy to send you some, provided that you send funds for full cans and shipping. I'll drink them for free! haha

Greg:
Saw them today and bought a couple. I'll mail one over if you like.

Update: it's too bad that canned beer tastes like...

24oz and now 12oz Heine cans on 01/04/2008 19:05:49 MST Print View

I haven't observed a disappearing act with the standard 24oz Heine can but I did see, for the first time, a 12oz size sold in a six-pack. Very exciting. The wall is similar to the wall design of the 24oz. Maybe kicking back a few cold ones will inspire me.

I found 5 in a store on 01/11/2008 20:57:14 MST Print View

Bought all of them!

I think 6 heinie pots ought to last me.

BUT....I have an idea for a BIG alky stove using this can.

I'll keep looking.

PS - Heineken SUCKS!, why can't these things be filled with Rogue Dead Guy Ale?

You mean like this?

big keg stove

compare to 12 ounces keg

another shot

Problem is it burns so hot that I melted every windscreen I tried back then. Hmmm... maybe another attempt. Doubtful. I have to admit, it would be great for boiling corn - maybe in one of those giant keg pots :P.

Kinda like that on 01/12/2008 15:38:51 MST Print View

George,
I've got the top to a Fosters can (a bad joke Australia plays on the rest of the world) cut and drilled like Tinny's Sketti stove but I was thinking a Heinie can bottom. Gotta work out the inner wall as the upper half of a Fosters is a bigger diameter that the bottom of either jumbo can.

I did build a jumbo open top side burner like yours. It burns really hot and it can hold 4+ ounces of fuel but it is fussy and tough to light. It can cook spaghetti but if you are burning 4 ounces of Heet for one meal you should probably use another type of stove. Still fun to tinker with them...

********

Steve O,
After choking down 3 canned Heinekens I'm thinking your original offer was a very generous one.

Thanks to all!

Good think I got mine the other day on 01/13/2008 19:26:54 MST Print View

Greg, it is a good thing I bought my Heine the other day, before you showed up and bought out the place. :) Yes, the store address you posted is the store I was referring to.

Hi Greg,

"(a bad joke Australia plays on the rest of the world)"

I have to agree with you, not many people drink it here in OZ that should say something. Large Heine and Fosters cans are not available here I have to get mine from the US

Tony
