MYOG Jay Ham SUL Backpack! on 12/23/2007 12:53:58 MST Print View

we based our pack on jay ham's SUL Pack but altered it slightly.

First we used a 0.75oz spinnaker Which was on sale at about £5 a meter, great for this sort of project and our first myog.
We added a hip belt, A Velcro roll top closure to keep out water, added 2 side pockets and 2 Lycra stretch panels on the back to take a sleep pad as back pad, also didnt bother with a front pocket.

A kinda cross jay ham, mariposa type pack!
Heres some pics.

Comes in at just under 200grams(think that's about 7oz!)
Around 35ltr volume, the pack was tested on a short trip last week with around 20lb weight and was very comfortable.

Howdy!

Thanks for the feedback!
The "we" is me and my girlfriend! We made a pack each, she is a wiz on the sewing machine and I have learnt of her!
The only probs I had been simple things seem to take for ages on the machine but just got to persevere and crack on with it!

The hip belt pockets are something id like to try as well, maybe removable pockets.
I’m hoping to start another project now iv got the idea and the bug!

Hey when am happy with the perfect pack id love to supply the people! This was my first pack so ill see how my next project goes and get it posted soon!!
