The color of appetite on 11/27/2007 22:05:08 MST Print View

In looking at buying an Orikaso bowl and mug, I was initially drawn towards green and away from orange, but then I thought about food in that color.

Now I know for many of you, your appetite can overcome anything in the backcountry, but for people like me, has anybody put any thought into the color of there dishes, or cozies for those who follow freezer bag cooking?

I did a quick google search, and found that blue suppresses appetite, while red/orange enhances it.

Maybe nobody cares, but I thought it was worth putting to you all.

Interesting! I do sell a LOT of orange flame cozies and orange Fozzil dish sets.

But oddly, it is the blue that sells the best: blue Hydrate spoons, blue Foons, I have 4 fabric choices in blue for cozies. While it might suppress, for me I find that blue is calming, while red and orange is too intense a color for myself :-) My personal cozy is Blue Water, a fabric that looks like deep ocean water.

Mine is straight up Reflectix. I'm afraid to ask what that says about me.

Mine too. I LIKE being shiny, cheap (but not free) and durable. Easy too.

Greyson,

This is an interesting thread. They often recommend a dark blue tablecloth for those who diet in order to curb the appetites so your post really makes sense.

I know in the family restaurant my sister insisted on white plates to showcase the color of the food and make it the focal point. Most foods are warm tones too.

Here is an interesting link on the subject that I thought you might enjoy looking at...

Well I seemed to have caused myself some analysis paralysis with this question, as it has taken me over a month to pick a color for a cozy from Sarbar, but I think I'm going orange flame for the maximum affect.

Thanks for everybody's thoughts!
