My Locale Southeast
About Me I live in Raleigh, NC and do most of my backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC and Virginia. I started backpacking in my mid-20s and I've been doing it off and on for the past 15 years since. Nowadays I typically do weekend trips with my kids. I started out looking to drop weight since I was carrying for myself and the kids. Now that they are older I'm back to mostly carrying for myself and I've managed to get my base weight down to around 10 lbs without sacrificing any comfort.

Re: size Circuit vs Gorilla?
My personal opinion is the Circuit carries weight much better than the Gorilla. For me, the circuit transfers the load better to my hips. The combination of a better hipbelt system and load lifte...

Re: Size of Circuit vs Gorilla?
I have both packs and I can fit significantly more in the Circuit than the Gorrilla. The main difference for me is the extension collar is much bigger in the circuit, or at least more usable. I t...

Re: Re: Beartooth wilderness planning
Thanks David for the response. I was looking at a loop on the Beartooth Plateau. That indeed does look spectacular although it appears to be a lot of off trail hiking to actually make a loop. Gi...

Justin, Love the video and the product looks really promising. I've been wanting a stool for a while it's hard to find an option that's truly lightweight. I'm curious how much ...

That's pretty cool. Any idea who maintains that and how they automatic the data extraction from trip reports? I'd love to see this as a feature directly on BPL...

Re: WTB Hammock Tarp
Jeremy, I have a JRB 11x10 tarp that I don't use anymore since I switched to a HG cuben fiber tarp. It has the JRB self tensioning lines for the pull outs and a continuous ridge line. It&#...

ULA Circuit
Over the past couple of years I've been striving to drop my base weight by gradually replacing my gear with lighter versions, while at the same time trying to find the right balance of comfort and...
