My Locale Western US
About Me Started backpacking in 1998 in my early 30's- US with some global travel (Pacific, Europe, Asia, northern Mexico). Semi-retired from govt type work, now working 2-3 contracts per yr, trying to keep summer and winter free to backpack, mountain-bike,snowshoe. Here to hike maybe a bit more further, faster while still enjoying scenery, as I still haven't discovered the fountain of youth. Have a 20F kit, .. starting on a 45F one, maybe a deeper winter one (all interchangeable) need to update gear list.

Re: Re: Re: Re: New PCT record, again

Mixed feelings about vestibules
I am rethinking vestibules after an incident 1 week ago. Had a furry critter try to get into my vestibule in the middle of the night, right above an area where a bear was raiding crowded camps and...

Re: Re: Middle Fork Kings: Redux!
Definitely a sweet adventure. Did you try to treat that ankle after your return (back at the TH or at home)?

Re: Re: New PCT record, again
The records are good stuff, not only the accomplishment but some info useful for those finishing big mile weekend trips before reporting to work (sport shakes, late night camp set, no cooking, etc....

Re: New PCT record, again
I think these supported/unsupported records are fairly interesting HYOH and all that, though there should be a "dawn to dusk" category IMO,.... of course, substantiated by SPOT and naval ...

Osprey and Patagonia
Osprey repaired and reinforced a burst zipper on a travel pack I sent them. Patagonia likewise has either replaced zippers or, if too much of a hassle, sent a replacement item. Jansport has a leg...
