Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Trout question from a noobie
The skin won't come off by itself even when fully cooked. For frying in a pan, it's best to cut the fish into chunks to keep it from curling up from the heat. A little olive oil and 3-4 min...

Re: Ice Axe Question
Short is fine. Just make sure it's long enough to quickly and comfortably grab in self-arrest position. I have a 60cm axe and I'm 5'11 and it works just fine for self arrest, step cutti...

Re: Re: Re: length
I think a wide would be huge. I'd go for a 6' regular width if I were you. Side sleeping is fine without drafts if you use the pad clips.

Re: Katabatic gear sawatch
I don't have the Sawatch but I do have an Alsek. I'm 5'10 and 175 lbs. I have the regular size and I can pull it all the way over my head when lying on my back if necessary (though brea...

Re: Is a cuben tarp aided by being cat-cut in the same way as silnylon tarps?
Yes, the cat cuts are even more important for cuben because of the lack of stretch. For a rectangular silnylon tarp, you can pull some of the sag out of it; you can't do this with cuben.

No experience with Tenkara Rod Co here. I've been fishing a Fountainhead Stone Fly 11' for about a year and have been very happy. The price is right and the quality is just fine. I'd bu...

I doubt they made any money on this. Joe has the wonderful policy of developing new products in collaboration with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if they chalked this up to R&D and b...

Re: The Frankenstein MLD Exodus/Arc Blast with custom features .....perfect pack?
That is awesome. I don't like the MLD suspension, and I don't want a pack made of cuben (durability concerns), so this might be a perfect compromise. Joe, you should totally offer Dyneema X...

Re: LEAVE NO TRACE on the surface of the Moon!
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the footprints and flag on the Moon are items of historical significance, and should not be removed or cleaned up by the next BPL'er to head ...

Re: Reflectix Construction Methods?
Clear packing tape also permanently bonds Reflectix. I've been using the same cozy for 3 years with no peeling or sticky goo.

zpacks Company
I had the same experience as everyone else here. Joe got me a customized piece of gear on time and was very responsive to my questions and requests. Can't do much better than that.
