My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: Hexamid Solo Plus + Serenity Net Tent
Yes, both of my ZPacks Solo+ Hexamid shelters (a tent and a tarp) came with loops in the apex for hanging things from. According to the product information page they still have them.

Re: Re: Re: Updated "iPhone for backpacking" article
Richard, I assume you are talking about the unlocked phone vs the others (as opposed to yours specifically)? If so, I agree, since I also have the unlocked 6, but to be honest, I have been pretty h...

Re: Solo plus
@MB I forgot that Joe had upgraded his Hexamids with the storm flaps. It also appears that the beak extends closer to the ground than the older version (like on mine). I guess this is where the sli...

Re: Deschutes vs solo plus
My Hex Solo + with all guylines and stuff sack is 7 oz on the money. Also, I very rarely stake it out with 10 stakes.. Most of the time I only use the 6 main guy out points. Even if the weather is ...

Re: Re: Re: Attaching Pillow(case) to Tapered Pad
I have never tried it, but I have always opted to use shock cord (1/16") with my pillows to go around my air pad. While I may be wrong, I feel like cord (especially the thin cords) would possi...

Re: Attaching Pillow(case) to Tapered Pad
I found the best way to get a pillow to stay in place on a pad is to either wedge the pillow directly against something like your backpack or the wall of a tent/shelter, or to put a sleeve over you...

Re: Re: Recommendations for kid rain/wind jacket
+1 to the Frogg Toggs/DriDucks stuff... Kids grow to dang fast to buy brand new gear each year... Although, I guess that depends on how often they get out... My kids didn't get out often, so ch...
