My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: How can I lighten my alu TT Rainbow shelter pole?
Check out all the different poles at Quest Outfitters. It's pretty easy to order the size poles you need and build them yourself. They sell the Easton carbon fiber FX poles (0.355") as wel...

Re: Packing the stakes for cook kit
If I ever need to carry stakes for use with my caldera cones I just pack them with my tent stakes. This way I know where they are and don't have to worry about stakes being in 2 different place...

Re: Hexamid Solo Plus + Serenity Net Tent
Yes, both of my ZPacks Solo+ Hexamid shelters (a tent and a tarp) came with loops in the apex for hanging things from. According to the product information page they still have them.

Richard, I assume you are talking about the unlocked phone vs the others (as opposed to yours specifically)? If so, I agree, since I also have the unlocked 6, but to be honest, I have been pretty h...

Re: Solo plus
@MB I forgot that Joe had upgraded his Hexamids with the storm flaps. It also appears that the beak extends closer to the ground than the older version (like on mine). I guess this is where the sli...

Re: Deschutes vs solo plus
My Hex Solo + with all guylines and stuff sack is 7 oz on the money. Also, I very rarely stake it out with 10 stakes.. Most of the time I only use the 6 main guy out points. Even if the weather is ...
