About Me Electrical Engineer by trade. Hobbies include recumbent bike riding, magic, piano, music compostion and of course backpacking.

Backpack monthly with scouts or other small group. Love the exercise and alertness it brings. Ray Way caught my eye in 2001. My load lightened. Because of that, able to go faster, farther, AND still smell the roses. Love the lightweight insight on this forum. I'm also a Teva sandal backpacker. My feet love them.

Re: Freedom or Ultra
I picked up that Freedom on sale last December. I also noticed it’s hard to do 1L. You have to pull the Freedom out, dry off the contacts REAL GOOD and then you can get it working again. This add...

Re: Is a bucket/basin worthwhile for personal hygiene on trips more than a couple of days?
This is a theory-- I have yet to ask of a scientist, but my permethrin treated poly/nylon clothes just does not harbor body bacteria very well. My biking clothes stink but my backpacking clothes do...

Re: How do you pack your NeoAir?
Since I love my Murmur, I need to get all gear as compact as possible. A neoair folded in 3rds and rolled (the way it came) takes less room than folded in half and rolled (howbeit easier). And both...
