Re: Updgrade Tele gear or get Snowshoes?
I'm somewhat of a beginner on XC skis, but I'd rather have skis on flat and rolling terrain with a wide trail so that I can't hit any trees. Otherwise, I prefer snowshoes. Also, snowsho...

Re: BA CS UL1
The Moment is a really nice tent, but I found the Copper Spur UL1 a little nicer. I sold my Moment and kept the CS. I even use it in winter (see avatar photo from the UP of Michigan).

Re: Going from hammocking to the ground - and now stuck in between

The GoLite SL2 seems like a good option, especially for weight. I use a Scarp 2, but have only used it on family trips in nice weather and rain. It makes a very roomy winter single wall tent whe...

Re: Cold weather face protection while sleeping?
I use either an acrylic knit balaclava or a light fleece neck gaiter pulled up over my mouth, or over my nose if it's cold enough.

Re: New Big Agnes Tents
Because of the low weight, the Scout would make a nice 2 person 3 season tent for camping in sheltered, forested areas like I usually do. I'm guessing from the specs that the weight would be 1 ...

Re: SnowShoe boots?
I've used slightly oversize minimalist trail runners with GoreTex socks and thick wool socks down to 10F. My toes were cold until I hiked for a few hours that morning, possibly partially due to...
