I took my first steps camping with my parents. I started backpacking around 22 years ago. Back then it was nothing to be hauling a 65lb. load around. Around 3 years ago I did my first section hike on the AT starting at Springer Mountain and ending at Dick's Creek Gap. It was grueling and punished my knees. It was then I started seriously looking at cutting my pack weight. I am now down to a 3 season base pack weight of 13 lbs. I love everything backpacking and am always planning that next trip. |
