My Locale Mt. Lassen - Shasta, N. Cal.
About Me Happy to find this site. Camping, hiking, whatever - love kayaks and have a bunch of foldables if people are ever in the area and want to use one - including a Klepper double which is great for taking gear and two people anywhere, including by sail in low wind conditions. Spent so much time reviewing all the posts and articles here over Thanksgiving I thought I would fill in some blanks. Me and partner live a few miles from Lassen peak on Hwy. 44 if you want to look it up and are in the area. Welcome to use our home as a base.

Re: Modifying an existing pack
I have struggled with similar issues in evaluating and wanting to improve my pack. My solution was to buy a second pack of the same type on sale, for a backup. Aside from that method of dealing w...

Re: Osprey Talon 33 Backpack REVIEW
I love the Osprey packs, but the photo of the Talon 33 looks like it "hangs low." Is that the case or is it just a photo angle or moment before it is lifted up on the back? bd

Re: Re: 3000 Calorie Reserve Ideas
At about 250 calories per ounce lard isn't a bad choice for a "reserve". But I would go with peanut butter at about 200 -220 per ounce, and neither butter or lard were I seriously go...
