My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

Getting older, as good as u were 10 years ago?
The last year or more, I've been thinking of doing a Portal to Portal to Mt. Whitney again for my 60th bd next Fall. I easily did the Portal to Portal on my 50th bd. To avoid disappointment a...

Start small
Raquel, if you or others don't have all the gear for winter/snow camping, go later in the winter when the days are longer, the nights warmer and the snow is firm. I've been out in mid to l...

Try an alky
+1 on the Caldera Cone. I only tried a smaller .6 ti Evernew pot with my newer, second Caldera Cone once this last summer. I had purchased a CC for a .9 REI ti pot a year ago. Anyway, the cone/w...

Role Modeling
Max, Ah, I see a little more of where you are coming from now. It is a challenge to see how little impact you can have where you camp. Take those students out in inclement weather too then, make...

Ti or Stainless wire bail
I don't really have a project, but looks like I have one now.:) I wish my Foster's pot looked like yours. I couldn't hear that video that was posted earlier this year on how to make t...

Following the Rules in U.S. Forests
Max, I'd say as a leader of others which is commendable, I think you should be setting an example. If any of your students found out what you do, they'd be wondering if what you instructed...
