OK do gear manfactures ever go backpacking?!, would they not like something comfy to put their feet after a long bushwack? Those surf shoes weigh like a pound each[haha]. Starting with felt sole...

James, not sure which you are referring to. but the top 5'' of the frame is a spring, hip belt, usual buckle/strap.

And an easy way to make THE most comfortable bipbelt. Take a wide strip , attach the buckles, tighten around waist. Then mark and cut away everything that is not under tension, VOILA!
