Re: Why is a stove part of an "ultralight" system <3 days?
Absolutely ultra-indulgence. I very much enjoy my coffee, tea, hot oatmeal and hot dinner. I hike to see the country, take pictures at the magic times and be comfortable. I don't run past be...

I have a set of LT4 poles. I seperate them to carry in a 62" airline spec suitcase when I fly somewhere to hike. I send them home with my small tripod by mail when my family takes the suitca...

Re: Dysfunctional Pack Design :)
I would not call the pack design dysfunctional. I prefer a lid with pocket for small quickly needed items. It serves me as a stuff sack. I don't care for hip pockets much though. Currently ...

Re: Not sure which pack to buy?
I went through several packs before settling on a Aarn Marathon Magic 33. It is a bit heavy at over 2 pounds but has quality construction with good fabric. It carries very comfortably which is mo...

I did lots of research to replace my 30 year old heavy leather boots. I tried many different boots at REI before I ordered these and have found my hiking shoe. I went one size up from my street shoes...
