avalanche pass.
The problem with camping down away from the pass on either side is the lack of views. If you camp up at the pass, there are views.

If you want to get off trail in a lovely basin (and do some serious talus work), you can head up Milestone Creek, cross Milestone Pass, and down Milestone Bowl to Colby.
