Those Terramar Grid Fleece layers are a good value. It's like the R1 stuff, but a bit lighter, so excellent for fall and spring temps especially. I think it compares reasonably to Cap4 in warmth.

I find the Marmot DriClime works best worn next-to-skin, and reasonably well over a trim-fitting t-shirt. Nothing else seems to wick sweat away better than the DriClime.

This one cool trick will keep your alcohol cold. Thermos manufacturers hate it!
