My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

I don't mean to be "dissing" 20 somethings or anyone : ) I'm not really judgemental of people doing things differently. If it's fun to be constantly on the smart phone, fi...

Very funny Jennifer. They said that very politely. I was at Restaurant. 20 somethings were next to us. They both had phones they were staring at and manipulating with their thumbs. Sometimes...

One other question before I have over-analyzed this to death What's the chance of finding a campsite at one of those campgrounds on the way to South Lake? Like Willow Campground? At mayb...

That's like Schoeller Nanosphere fabric. Rather heavy for outdoor gear as I remember. http://www.shelby.fi/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1408

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Cartridge Creek Trail
On my map there's a trail from Lake Sabrina to near South Lake. Maybe 10 miles total from North Lake to South Lake. I wonder if that trail is real.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Cartridge Creek Trail
But getting from North Lake to South Lake is a pain. Maybe there are enough vehicles happy to give ride to smelly hiker.
