Re: Re: Speer Segmented Pad Extender.
All the pad extender does is create a wider insulation layer than the standard 20" sleeping pad. You can use a foam pad or put a Thermarest or other self inflating in it. It's a sleeve wit...

Re: Pad For Hammocks?
Gossamer Gear has wide pads for hammocks. They are thin but I combine it with a narrow pad for temps below 45F - having the wide pad under the narrow one gives you some warmth if an arm or leg stra...

Re: Coe
They tear up the hills like hairy rototillers. Not sure I want to try to make a multi use item out of one, they are kind of dangerous if they want to be.... I didn't see any pigs last year, ...

The MacCat Deluxe works just about perfect on the Blackbird for three season - with a trekking pole or two to prop up one side, it gives you an awning to cook under. For really hideous weather the ...

Re: more questions
My windshirt is also Marmot, but was discontinued apparently - it weighs only 3 oz and folds away into a small pocket. It's just a very light, water resistant polyester zippered jacket minus a ...

Re: Re: The Big Four for cold sleepers
I forgot to add - gloves! I use glove liners when temps start to dip much below 50F, and add fleece gloves or waterproof winter gloves as season and temps demand.

I find that putting the bag under a small cascade of a stream or letting it submerge in a lake works well. The length of the hose makes it easy to keep the clean end in my thumb while bailing water. I...
