a few thoughts....
If you take the pace slowly, your kids should be able to hike 6 or 7 miles per day. But that means you have to give them time off to rest at some point. The route you have suggested works fine...

That's good news. I know they had it closed for quite a few years for habitat restoration. That lake gets hit pretty hard. Good to know it is recovering/has recovered.

Only three bears
I couldn't help but think that this policy is important. When you only have three bears, you don't want to have to destroy one because stupid people have fed it too often!
