My Locale Minnesota
About Me 43, and in some of the best shape of my life after losing 50 lbs a couple years ago. I've always loved getting "out there" and backpacking is one of my preferred ways. I spend as much time as I can backpacking and car camping with my kids during the Summer. I'm an avid target shooter and enjoy kayaking with my family, ATVing and snowmobiling, and just about anything that get's me in the outdoors.

Skyscape
+1 on loving the Skyscape and having a good experience with SMD. I liked the Skyscape Trekker so much I bought the X. The cuben does pitch a bit higher up than the sil, but the weight savings is ...

Another here that went 10d/10d. I figured if I was going light I was going to go all the way.

Re: Re: Revelation 10D or Rev X?
Absolutely no concerns from me with the long-term durability of the 10D. I have both a RevX and a 10d/10d Rev. I don't mind the feel of the RevX at all, but the 10d is super comfortable. Tre...

Re: Sleep vs Complex Rigging
Jim, +1, except I don't use a bivy. Tim asked me for an honest evaluation of his new strap system, and I told him I think it's a brilliant design, and likely the best in the industry, at...

Re: Alternative to pad attaching system
This is one of the ways you can use the new EE strap system, just without the figure-8.

"Could someone make this crystal clear for me? Can the straps be placed around the sleeping pad, and then the quilt attached to those straps on top of the pad, so that, similar to the Katabati...

FS: North Face Tigger Kids Sleeping Bag
I bought this for my daughter 2 years ago and she's now ready for a larger bag. This was the best kids' sleeping bag I could find at the time for backpacking and it worked very well. Orig...

Get the 40
I agree with the others that said it'll be too warm. For this very reason I have 2 EE quilts. A RevX 20F overstuff and a Rev 40F.

Enlightened Equipment Revelation X
This was my first quilt, and I couldn't be happier. I needed a new cold weather bag, so I went with the 20F 6' Wide and had the 30% over stuff. The loft on this quilt is incredible, more tha...

gossamer murmur
I would have liked to give the 2012 Murmur a 4.5 if I could have. My only criticism is that the stitching is not as well done as I would have expected. There were a few loose threads in some of the ...

I actually liked a lot about this jacket, but I ended up returning it to REI for one simple reason - it didn't keep me warm. The fit and quality is excellent, I especially like the breast pocke...
