My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: Best watch with thermometer and altimeter?

Stating the Obvious
I figure folks like LineLoc's for their simplicity, which means they don't have to tie any knots... just stake out, cinch, and done.

Re: Sound
It really is a great piece of kit. As can be seen here, there are tons of uses for it. I have actually used it as a back wall on an A frame tarp, a beak on a half pyramid, and of course as a ground...

Re: What is your Hexamid bug protection solution?
I wouldn't try using my MLD bug bivy under my Solo Plus Hexamid tarp... or any other A-Frame style bug bivy... it just doesn't work that well... If you don't mind small, enclosed pla...

It'll always make some noise, but I have never really had an issue with it... especially when it was raining... and yes, it does make a good ground sheet, or an addition to a ground sheet...
