Re: MLD Duomid
>John - you can still sleep diagonal with the pole in the middle? I usually offset the pole just over a foot, which I can just barely manage with the GG LT4's without an extension. It'...

Re: Nunatak Alpinist down
My Specialist came through in the usual mailing envelope, with no other protection, and had only a small amount of down on the exterior fabric. What bothered me, both then and now, was the amount o...

Lightrek 4/Tigoat Locking Mechanism
The locking mechanism of each is almost identical in design. Because the TiGoat expanders are quite a bit smaller in surface area they are prone to loosening over a period of trail time. I attribut...

Re: Best flashlight
The single AAA powered Fenix L0D clipped on my hat is near perfect at mid-level for night time trail hiking. For for use around camp the low level is more than adequate. I seldom have to switch to ...

Re: UL 'all in one' alternative to the Jetboil?
As a former JetBoil user, I've found the the Vargo TiJet (2.7oz) combined with a FireLite pot/lid (2.75oz) is working almost as well. Not quite as wind proof or fast lighting, but so very much ...

Re: Which packs should I be looking at?
You can stay in your price range and get a new ULA pack. I'm partial to the new Ohm, myself. It will easily carry the gear and food you mentioned, weighs only 21oz (under 24oz fully optioned), ...

Dennis.. They're what I'd call a modified spot. Most of the reflectors are textured (orange peel) surfaced and do throw a soft flood around the intense central spot. I have both the LD10 an...
