My Locale California
About Me I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife and two children. I have hiked and backpacked throughout the state and beyond. I'm always looking to lighten my pack and lengthen the days and mileage of my trips. Favorite trips I've taken include thru-hikes of the John Muir Trail, High Sierra Trail, and Tahoe Rim Trail.

Fun trip. Great to see/meet everyone. Cameron igniting the food storage box with his home brew stove fuel and melting a hole in his caldera cone was my personal favorite highlight.

John: Thanks. I'm glad you feel inspired. One thing I want to emphasize is that for the changes to really take hold and become the way you live, be ready for a long haul of micro changes t...

Re: Your body is not a backpack, it is a body.
Gabe: Insightful and fair points. One can take an analogy too far to make a point. Although backpacks don't have a desire for gear, people seem to crave gear in ways that are at least some...
