About Me Things I do: hike, camp, packraft, dive, XC ski

Things I'd like to do: easy rock climbing and canyoneering, more winter camping, more off-trail trips, and learn to telemark ski (it just looks so swooshy and cool). also, packraft MOAR.

Things I don't do: run, unless a rugby ball is in the vicinity. bike, unless it's casual, commuting, low-speed, or otherwise not hardcore.

Re: Multi-Use Tarp
Regular flat tarp will do just fine IME. I've used 8x10 rectangular, looking to try a square tarp for the increased ground pitching options. If you go shorter than 10' on both sides you'...

Dale, I gave you credit for knowing the environment YOU need to prepare for, and I'd hoped for the same in return, but this being your hobbyhorse I'm not surprised.

Re: Re: hammock sleeping
I DO get motion sickness, actually. Usually when I haven't been hanging in a while. Generally doesn't negate the upsides, though.

Things I take EVERY hike, hmm. I think the BSA list could be improved by listing items by category, so I'll do mine that way. Anything with a (*) by it gets left behind on anything less than 10...

Of course you don't splint bungholes; that's what corks are for. Only a few extra grams and $0.79 at Home Depot.
