My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

Re: re seam seal

Re: Re: Re: eVent Shortie gaiters replaced by Neo(shell) Shortie gaiters
You don't need water proofness for gaiters. They're a vertical surface. You need eVent for a jacket at the shoulders and hood where the fabric is pressed against your body and you gener...

Re: Re: Trolling and Useless Information
I think plasticizers (both the old ones and the new ones that are supposed to be safer) pollute the "precious bodily fluids" of Americans. It's a communist conspiracy.

Re: Re: Re: The 32 ounce problem
If a layer of air is wider than maybe 1/2 inch or 1 inch, then there will be air currents which will limit any further gain. If you're more than 1/2 or 1 inch, it won't be any better than ...
