My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

DIY canister stove windscreen
Thanks Eric, I was trying to rig up some short pieces of wire, too fiddly. Your setup holds the windscreen up, not too much a concern for me to protect the canister though. Duane

Camping close to TH and food storage in Glacier NP
I'm headed to Glacier NP in MT in mid July, looks like solo again. In the backcountry, does one have to stay every night in the designated campgrounds? The reason I ask, would be nice if I co...

ATTN: CatCut Tarp Users
Thank you. That may apply more to car camping, where I rarely set up a large tarp. In SEKI last summer, I had to set up my shaped tarp on a slight grade. Bad thing, the high end had to point uph...

ATTN: CatCut Tarp Users
How much extra line and stakes do you guys bring, to change the configuration of flat tarps? With the lines available now, I'm guessing bringing extra line does not add much weight. Also, do ...

cable cutters for freeing dogs from snares
After freeing a dog from a foot catch/bear trap type trap over 30 years ago, that was baited with a dead beaver, I asked a Game Warden about it here in Kalifornia. Said the trapper had to have his...
