i've tried on a lot of packs and boreas was one of the few that i could never really dial in the fit
to me their torso sizing is incorrect. i've got a 19 inch back length and thought that their size large which is for 20" + torsos was too short. they need another larger size increment. i...

just throw the tent up in your backyard and do a test run to see how it goes.
and two open sleeping bags as a top and bottom may not work. the fly creek one is probably too narrow to handle the bulk of both sleeping bags down at the foot.

22 sq/ft for two goes beyond the limits of cozy.
having spent some time in small tents like the bd *light* series, i can't imagine having two normal sized people in anything less than 27 sq/ft if they really wanted to get some sleep and that ...

"could you clarify the reasoning for a hardshell in winter... " it's amazing how many people don't ask this question
they figure *winter* must wear/bring hard shell. i for the most part leave my hard shell at home and am satisfied with my hooded (wild things) wind shirt in most any conditions. many are shocked a...

double or single boots?
if dbl's, with a modern closed cell foam liner you don't really need a vbl. you also do't need a thick sock/socks for insulation unless you are going to be in extreme cold. with eithe...

what do you consider "quite expensive?" also, have you given any thought to what your last layer will be when at stopped
if you are going to wear hard shell pants, i'd skip the second layer of pants. depending on how hot you run, you might want to think about mid-weight fleece. you can find soft shell pant from...

I like the epic encapsulated fabric for wind shirts
On most occasions I will ditch my hard shell and just take my wild things wind shirt in epic. It breaths better than any hard shell and is sufficiently water resistant for my purposes. I did seal...

"Not wind resistant" that's not a bad feature
i find that windstopper or the like fleece hats don't breath sufficently for my taste if i am exerting myself at any level. if wind is an issue, i put on the hood of my wind shirt. I find tha...

turtle fur ear band and boonie hat
not my best look, but you get the idea. if i've got a solid head of steam-on, moving fast and going up hill, this combination will keep me in my comfort range. my head might be cool, but it wo...
