Just imagine the other way. Imagine if the pot support arms were extremely tight. You might put a cook pot on top, and then one arm might stick and prevent the cook pot from a stable level seating....

The main weather problem with that tent is the way the door is formed. Water runs off the top and drips directly through the door onto the tent floor. But, that is not a wind issue. --B.G.--

What harm does it do to have loose pot support arms? When the weight of the cook pot is on them, they stop at the level point, don't they? Do they just rattle around, and the sound bother...

Get one of the heavy plastic three-gallon kerosene jugs. Empty out the kerosene and wash the inside out several times. Then it makes an excellent water jug. --B.G.--
