My Locale NEOH
About Me I started backpacking in the Northeast in high school with 3 buddies where we had quick access to the AT (Hertlein campsite). Continued through college and dropped off during the family-building years. Got back into camping with my sons and Cub Scouts which just fueled the need for more backpacking. Getting out on weekend+ trips for the past few years and loving it all over again.

FS: Montbell Thunder Dome 2 Tent w/Footprint - $150
I have a gently used Montbell Thunder Dome 2 tent with footprint that won't get much action out of the gear closet since acquiring another tent. It has one inch long V-shaped rip in the fly do...

Re: Convertible Pants
Kuhl convertibles have varying degrees of pockets, but not typical 'cargo' pockets per say. I just picked up the Liberators and love them - can't wait to try them on the trail. Their ...

Re: Should I be carrying more Dead Birds?
What I find more relevant is the different brands 'fit' based on body type and personal comfort. I have tried some Arcteryx stuff, but I never liked the fit of the items and thus moved the...

Re: Any one from central or south west Ohio?
Hello Brandon, Northeast Ohio here, but I know that several groups frequent Zaleski. You might try the Northeast Ohio Backpacking Club to hook up with a trip or organize one. Not sure if there...

Re: First backpacking trip - lots of lessons learned...
You're on the right track with the tent packing issue. If you do stick with a tent, I know it seems so much neater to keep it all in it's 'sausage roll' but breaking it into parts ...

Re: Re: MH Hoodie
I wouldn't say I have completely eliminated a hat as most of the time still carry an OR skullcap too, but I definitely don't need to hunt for the hat while hiking if I have the hoody on unl...

Re: Fleece for me, works.
I am a big fan of the TNF Windwall 1 jacket which I use around town. It started as part of my hiking system too which is similar to your layering (base-mid-insulation-shell) as I am sure many othe...

Re: Re: Merino Long Sleeve base layer top
Well, it looks like the long-sleeved T shirt varieties from Smartwool are in the 'elusive, not produced' category anymore (not even a T shirt area on their website), but they do appear to h...
