About Me Mostly 2 to 3 day loops, with a couple weeklong trips too, likely going 2 weeks or more with upcoming severance. Lightening up but with an eye towards toughness and hiking convenience (secure drying on the trail. quick set up, etc...), but also a bit better food (and beverage) for most overnights. Then again I might want to do a spartan "fast n'light" overnight ... and the gear closet grows.
I'll update my gear list tomorrow ...

Re: wearing dark colors in the hot sun?
The darker the color, the more sun they tend to absorb. Depends on the solar irradiation of the area you are planning to hike + the season - in southern NM in the hot Memorial Day sun, I couldn...

If that's the 1999 double wall version, it may be real tight. The head is asymmetric but tapers off towards the foot. If the adult was small and the kid short ...it would be real tight. The ...

Re: Zimmerbuilt
Great packs. What are you using the top pockets for? (yeah, extra features add to the cost - was thinking of smaller, flatter pockets for mitt shells on a winter version of a Zimmerbuilt)

Fuzzy fleece, constant changes, and the Michelin man
I'm pretty much done with wind-whatever soft-shells after they couldn't repair it. I did snowshoe a bit in the LW R4 and the temp was fine as it was just lightly snowing ... just did not li...

Wind-bloc
Eric: My Wind-bloc LW R4 (less fuzzy than reg R4) had a decent temp range dependent on base-layer, but had to be constantly fiddled with. The Pata employee said great for resort slopes as a snowb...
