About Me I've been a camper all my life. BK: (before kids) the wife and I would throw our bikes and a little wheeled trunk in the back of the plane and head for the boonies just about every weekend. AK: Camping was a rarity, but we took day hikes with the kids. Now the kids are on their own and we've discovered lightweight backpacking. Been doing it for three years. Base pack weight is 14lb and decreasing. Tent is now a Hennessy Hyperlight and I've replaced the Miniworks with a Sawyer.

People in down don't frown.

lighter than MSR and less work
My setup weighs less than my 1 lb. MSR, but what I like best about it is it does all the work. My steripen is a little lighter, but you have to sit and stir. I find it tedious to do that for two ...

Re: High Gear ATF8 Multi-Function Device
Is your iPhone shock and water proof? Can't say for sure, but likely no. As soon as I got it, I bought an anti-shock skin for it. When I hike, I keep it in a ziplok. For all it does, I thi...

It's called an Iphone4. A charge lasts a good long time if you keep the radios (phone, bluetooth, wi-fi) turned off, and if you can understand a normal conversation, you can hear the alarm. C...

Man, that's a lot of weight for such a narrowly targeted feature set. I think Will should have said more about the advantages the articulated suspension. Does it just buy me a little comfort? ...
