In all honesty, if you aren't going to settle for the walmart sticks, I would just shoot for some GG LT4 or titanium goat sticks. Leki's aren't really that much better than the walmart ...

I second the question about where in Africa you are going? I spent 2 weeks in Uganda as part of a medical mission and there are definitely wet and dry seasons which would greatly change your needs....
