I really like my Nunatak Ghost - I had it custom made with slightly less down for a summer quilt and it's only 12.7 oz. I've had it down near freezing with the additon of a Montbell Down I...

Need the skinny on Icebreaker
The 200 weight is a great cool weather base layer. The 260 is more of a mid-layer or a very cold weather base layer. I like it more for dayhiking than backpacking trips. I like the thumbholes,...

Bear Bag Rope
I just use cheap nylon cord from Wal-Mart's camping section. I think they call it utility cord. It works fine for 1-2 people for a weekend, and weighs about 3 oz in a light weight ditty bag.

RE: Is it ok to reuse plastic water bottles
"Personally, given that PET bottles are cheap, I prefer to change my bottles often. On the off chance there is anything leeching out of the plastic, it will likely be accelerated as the bottle...

Santa brought me one of these for Christmas, and it has quickly become my favorite light. For it's weight it's amazingly bright. I used it to night hike a half mile or so last weekend. Th...
