Re: Re: Lightest Expedition/Very Cold Weather jacket?
Hi Rick, Yes I almost couldn't believe the warmth to weight ratio of the Gasherbrum (almost 50/50). ME also make a jacket called the K7 with 330g of fill and their "Drilite" outer ...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Lightest Expedition/Very Cold Weather jacket?
That's an interesting comment. I will be using it down to around -20 to -25 C but mainly as a summit jacket. Down suits are designed for the most extreme conditions, such as 8000m peaks in wint...

Re: Re: Lightest Expedition/Very Cold Weather jacket?
"So you want over 300 but less than 400 grams of fill and weigh less than 27.5 ounces. Why would something with only 33% more of the minimum of what you want be too much? Plus at that weig...

Re: take a look at the feathered friends volant
Thanks, Richard. My main concern with the Volant is that is it quite a short cut and I have a long torso. Ideally I'd like something that covers my butt. The Frontpoint is super nice but again ...

OK
Yes I see now. I wonder if there is an issue with weaving dyneema because of the very low melting point.

New Gore Pro
The new Gore-tex Pro apparently has no monolithic PU layer (which should presumably make it somewhat air permeable now but who knows?)

Re: Calculate CLO value in a down jacket
"Richard.N says that it has a clo value of 3.94. ive read that it has 181grams of down. 800fp down is 45.93g/1,62oz/clo in densitys betwen 1,62oz/yd2/in3 and 4,05oz/yd2/in3. 181/45.93 = C...

Why would a woven dyneema shirt not require DWR?

good options
Looking at your website I think you've made the right choice, Tim. Your RevX is possibly even better value now, and for those who want to pay the extra 100 dollars to save 100 grams the Revelat...
