Re: Wool sleeping bag for desert use
Sorry, makes no sense to me. Desert is pretty ideal conditions for down since rain and humidity are so rare. I hike in the desert and, frankly, haven't heard of anyone damaging their down bag...

Hyvent from Quest
>> Hyvent is 1.8 oz/yd2, membrane has a special print matrix so it doesn't require lining, but I wonder how well that works I made a rain anorak with Hyvent from Quest. 4.3oz for a ge...

Re: Transitioning to "SomewhatLight"; Backpack recommendations for wife and me?
First of all, the Ohm is definitely NOT a 60L pack, at least in terms of comparing it to other packs. All of the ULA pack volumes are overstated, imo. For a realistic comparison against other pac...

Re: AHH! I can't choose! BA SL1 vs WB Tarp
Just a thought. If the expectation is that you'll always use the tarp and nest together, you might consider something like a Tarptent or Lightheart. They're a good compromise between the ...

Re: How is a rolltop closure meant to work on a pack?
Look at the picture of the Circuit on the ULA website; this is what the roll-top part should look like regardless of whether there's anything in the front mesh pocket. http://www.ula-equipment...

Re: Anybody not Seam Seal their silnylon shelters?
I have three DIY silnylon tarp/tarptents, one of them isn't seam sealed. I've been through a few long rainy nights in it and had no leaks. It's a simple ridgeline tarp, made with a fel...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "Footwear coming back from an ankle injury"
I don't think that the weight of the boot/shoe is a factor. After all, I've been lugging around a knee-high cast and then a big clunky orthopedic boot for the last 3 months. The issue is...
