A single or double layer made of an old cotton sheet will work for spark protection. Or, bring a foam sit pad and stack rocks or logs or branches to make a seat.

I'm not buying the arguments. I did an experiment, and when I dressed to look like a single female backpacker (including wig), I got many disturbing and weird looks. ;-)
