Re: spinnaker cape
"And finally, would Mr. Ron Moak maybe make me a spinnaker model without the pocket if I was real nice to him and paid him handsomely?" You can ask him, but I suspect not. The various ...

Internal frame pack as backrest
I too read Fletcher early in my backpacking career. I never understood the problem with using an internal frame pack as a backrest. I just lean my pack against a tree, with the suspension facing ou...

tall people can't be UL?? :-)

We used the original Rainshadow for four years. It's large enough for three plus some gear, and it's a *great* shelter for two people. My wife and I could get all our gear inside. I have...

mesh top? design comments.
We're talking about using a breathable bivy under a tarp, right? Something with a very water resistant top fabric to protect the sleeping bag from side splash, dew/frost, etc., but not totally ...

Photon Freedom Micro (White)
The newest version is the Photon Freedom To The Max, which uses some sort of new technology in the LED that doubles brightness while not using any more battery power. Nice. The Doug Ritter edition ...

I just received my Marmot Ion jacket from Campmor, and I agree with the two most recent posts. I don't think it's sil-nylon, exactly, but my hiking test had water beading up on the inside whil...
